Eurovision nightGot myself some ice cream and will be making myself compfy on the sofa so I'm ready for the big, glittery, horrible music, camp, pointless politics, drama that is eurovision. It never disappoints me.

Sadly I will be alone for this one. Matt had to do a concert he didn't want to do, so I will be live tweeting (humonlazydiva) my impression of the whole shebang.

The Echo chamber dilemmaThe promise of the Internet was that unlimited information and experiences would draw us together. But instead it seems to have driven us apart.
For years I've observed this behavior but haven't been able to vocalize it correctly. Originally I called the behavior of collective opinions as "the hive mentality" of the Internet. But that wasn't exactly right and I often got called out on it. The most prominent example was when I made a comic about a guy disagreeing with opinions and being shouted at till he remained quiet, eventually fading into the background with everyone else. The consensus of that comic was that if you disagree with someone you aren't bullied into not speaking, but instead are free to go someplace else where people who do agree with you exist. And you know what? That wasn't what i was trying to convey, but is sadly true. The Internet is not a hive mind. It's many tiny pocket echo chambers of mutual agreements.

Mood: Tired

'Kay, so I just updated my gallery in the first time in forever, and it was my entry for next year's Kumoricon mascot. Turns out I won the contest, so I won a free artist table at next year's con. Yey!

I forgot to go to Kumoricon this year, and I've never really been to any others except one in Hong Kong in '04, which I forgot most of the details to, soooo I have absolutely no idea how to manage a table or sell things or anything. /noob

Tips are greatly appreciated~

Also, I want some suggestions for what anime/videogame/whatever I should do some fanart for to sell at kcon. I NEEEVER do fanart, so what do you guys like? I most likely won't be doing mainstream anime, because I don't even keep up with those. e_e;;;

All I know is that you should do so Hayao Miyazaki stuff, especially from Howl's Moving Castle, Princess Mononoke ( my personal favorite) and Spirited Away: those are always very popular.

A short list of anime, manga and video games I think you should try to do for the con:

- The Legend of Zelda ( Because LoZ is amazing )
- Gankutsuo, which is an anime that is getting some real attention nowendays.
- Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion, since that is becoming a VERY popular series.
- Assassin's Creed: the newest game in the series just was released and art relating to the series would be bound to sell with how large of a fan base it has.
- Any CLAMP fanart. CLAMP stuff is always hot at the cons.

Meep. Oi I don't pay attention to what other people like, so I couldn't really say what is mainstream, but I know some pieces that I wish I saw more artist do fanart for. Suggestions:

Anime: Black Blood Brothers, Witch Hunter Robin, Black Cat, Last Exile, Boogie Pop Phantom [though that's so random, I wouldn't know what to suggest as far as art is concerned.] Pumpkin Scissors, Gundam Wing, Speed Grapher, Kurau: Phantom Memory, Trinity Blood, Noir, Kiddy Grade, Gunslinger Girl, The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumia [which is probably mainstream, it's spammed enough] Higurashi No Naku No Koro Ni, FLCL, Vandread, Wolf's Rain, GunxSword, Kodocha, Kare Kano [His and Her Circumstances...which is, admittedly cheesy as all get out, hahaha!], Moon Phase, Princess Tutu [so adorable...and I like the poetic backstory...*getsaxed*], Chrono Crusade, Vampire Princess Miyu. [And anything done by Hayao Miyazaki, in my humble opinion, is worth doing fanart for, though I haven't, because I'd kill his characters and that's just rude.]

Manga: Alice 19th, Juvenile Orion, VB Rose, and Chocolate...[I read girlier things than what I bother to watch. O___O]

Video Games: Tales of Symphonia, Tales of the Abyss, Tales of Legendia, Drakengard, Odin Sphere, Grim Grimore, Final Fantasy Tactics [I really haven't seen any fanart stuffs for this...other than what my brother has done], Star Ocean...
